Ouch. Back in the summertime, WHE was at an eco-event in Vancouver and as volunteers we got all sorts of freebies.

WHE was going to take one of these samples, a calendula cream, on a trip to the sun but was shocked to find that in addition to the calendula, there were the unholy trinity of cetyl alcohol, vaseline and sodium lauryl sulfate.

So, anyway, "cetyl alcohol" has been known to cause contact eczema, according to this site.

Vaseline, a petroleum derivative (you know the thing that everyone's fighting over), also has been identified as a carcinogen linked to things like breast cancer, according to this site.

And sodium lauryl sulfate, found in so many health products, has also been linked to various health concerns, according to this site.

So, yeah, just because the product looks like gold, it might in fact be lead ;( . So, have an eye next time you buy something because it sounds like it's working for the workers or saving the earth, it might be compromising your health. Ouch.
